To join the Evangelical Order of Certified Pastoral Counsellors of America, each applicant in the organization must agree to abide by the following basic principals of Christian Faith. Although our members represent different denominations within this Faith system with minor doctrinal variations and interpretations of scripture, we are all in fundamental unity confessing the following basic foundational doctrines:

• The scriptures to be the inspired and inerrant word of God;
• In one God, eternal and self-existant, manifested to man as Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
• That Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary;
• He died on the cross and shed His blood as a sacrifice for our sins; He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High;
• In the ministry of the Holy Spirit to glorify Christ, to convict men and to empower the Believer;
• That man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin;
• And that man can be justified through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ;
• That water baptism identifies us with the death and burial of Christ, and that we should arise to walk in newness of life;
• That the true Church is composed of such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit;
• That Christ wants the members of His church to carry the gospel into all the world;
• That the Holy Spirit is at work today within the Church through His gifts, fruits, and anointed ministers;
• In the Second Coming of Jesus Christ;
• In the bodily ressurection of all the dead;
• In the final judgement with everlasting blessedness for those who have placed their confidence in our Lord Jesus Christ.
